After many years of the Marathi Ancient Quarries site being neglected, the first steps have been taken to improve the visitor experience and begin highlighting this unique monument. The AMKE “Paros Ancient Marble Quarries Park” installed a series of information signs, orientation maps and route markings. The new signs offer rich informative material in Greek and English. They also have QR codes that take the visitor to the website of the Ancient Quarries (www.parianmarble.gr) for more information on the history and cultural heritage of Parian marble.

The signs belong to the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades, whose officials guided the project, compiled the texts and determined their positions. They were designed by a working group, which included representatives of the Ephorate, the AMKE and the Municipality of Paros, as well as Mairina Matthaiopoulou, who was entirely responsible for the graphic design.
